Tour Station 12: The Government Room

The meetings of the Government are usually held at the Prime Minister's Office. However, on days on which the members of the Government are obliged to participate in the Knesset sittings, the Government may convene for meetings in the Knesset building, where the Prime Minister and all the Ministers have bureaus.

The Government room also serves for the hosting of important visitors to the Knesset.

The Government room is located on the second floor. In the center of the room there is a round table, and on its Western wall a picture, which the artist Re'uven Rubin painted for the Knesset when it moved into its permanent location in 1966. The painting shows a scene from the Galilee, with olive trees and a Cypress tree, a sheaf of wheat in the center and poppies.

In the lobby of the Government floor hang the pictures of all the Presidents of the State and Prime Ministers who passed away, and an oil painting of Theodor Herzl - the foreseer of the modern Jewish state. In the lobby there is also a large basalt wall painting - "Glory to Jerusalem"- by Moshe Castel, and an oil painting - "The Last Way - Babi Yar" - by Joseph Kuzkovsky.
