Parliamentary Groups

Free Center

Description:

A parliamentary group formed toward the end of the Sixth Knesset under Shmuel Tamir, after he and two other MKs left the Herut Movement over a leadership dispute with Menachem Begin. The party was elected to the Seventh Knesset. Toward the elections for the Eighth Knesset, it joined the Likud. In the course of the Eighth Knesset, Shmuel Tamir and Akiva Nof left the Likud and once again established the Free Center, but both resigned from the Knesset before the end of its term, and the parliamentary group was disbanded.
