The name adopted by the New Communist List (Rakach) toward the end of the Eighth Knesset, after the party outside the Knesset was joined by part of the Black Panthers and other left-wing non-communist groups. Hadash, which is a Jewish and Arab party, ran for the Ninth, Tenth, Thirteenth and Fifteenth Knessets under this name. In elections for the Eleventh, Twelfth, Fourteenth and Sixteenth Knessets, Hadash ran under joint names together with other parties. From its inception Hadash advocated a complete Israeli withdrawal from the territories occpied in 1967, recognition of the PLO and the establishment of a Palestinian state alongside Israel, in addition to full equality for Israelís Arab citizens.
